Specialty Coatings
Our Specialty Coating department has several off-line converted Harris Presses. We are able to run on stock as small as 13" x 19" and up to 36" x 49.5". Our coaters have the option for air drying on extended conveyors, IR lamps, and also UV curing lamps. We are able to do spot registration using Cyrel plates, patterns, and also flood coatings on these machines. We are able to quote on special coatings and/or specific brands.
Blister Coatings
Blister heat seal coatings are the key component of producing blister pack and fold over card packaging. Blister coating is a specialty adhesive coating that is applied as a liquid to the board. There are two common types of coating available, aqueous and solvent. After the coating is applied, it needs to be allowed to fully cure and dry before the board can be trimmed and die cut for the final product. The blister cell is then filled and the board is bonded to the blister using heat, pressure and time.
The use of stocks other than blister board can result in bonds that are not fiber-tearing or are weak failure-prone bonds. We recommend that our customers use blister board and blister inks to assure the best product.
Remoistenable Glue
Remoistenable glue is a versatile finishing process that can be applied to a wide variety of products. It is ideal for self-mailers, envelopes, bind-in inserts and business reply cards. Its ease of use for the end user helps boost response rates. Reactivating, sealing and mailing a remoistenable glued product is fast and foolproof. We are able to lay down cold-applied glue either in strips or in basic patterns.
Matte Etching
Matte Etching is a process that uses a two pass system that allows for a stunning, registered matte and gloss contrast. The gloss effect comes from first applying a gloss lamination down and then is sent through our press with a special matte etch coating that allows for a tighter registration than a screen coater. It can be a less expensive alternative to Spot UV coating on small quantity. Matte etching can be used on brochures, book covers, presentation folders, and others projects. The greatest contrast can be seen by using darker colors.
